This April Southbank Centre presents Alchemy, the Alchemy festival explores the culture of India, its diaspora and its relationship to the UK today in over 30 events spanning dance, music, literature, debates, fashion and food.
Representing the cutting edge of contemporary music making Raj:Reload, a showcase of some of most innovative artists working in India and the UK today. A mini-festival held across the whole of the Queen Elizabeth Hall site with live bands, film soundtrack performances, VJs, DJs, spoken word, comedy and one-off collaborations.
Here’s a quick profile of just some of the artists performing on the night.
Engine-Earz Experiment
Engine-EarZ Experiment are a musical collective born out of the Dubstep scene in early 2009 centering around acclaimed multi-instrumentalist/scorer/dj/producer Prashant Mistry.
Growing up in Britain with Asian roots, Prash had always sought to reconcile his varied musical influences from The Prodigy and Rage Against The Machine through to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Talvin Singh. For Raj:Reload Engine-Earz Experiment will feature Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Shahid Abbas Khan and Jenna G.

Bishi has played Glastonbury with a rock band, underground clubs with a grime collective and concert halls and with The London Symphony Orchestra. In whatever surrounding Bishi’s sound is eclectic, edgy, urban and totally unique.
Last Mango in Paris
Last Mango in Paris bridges Comedy and Spoken Word, Hip Hop and Jazz. To give you a taste here’s Last Mango’s Shane Solanki with a plea to young men pull up their trousers.
